HYDERABAD: Prime minister Narendra Modi, who arrived here on Friday evening, after meeting with various dignitaries who gathered at the Shamshabad airport to greet him, took a few minutes off and had a brief chat with chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and governor ESL Narasimhan.

“The conversation could not have been just pleasantries as the two were the first to greet the Prime Minister on the tarmac,” a senior BJP leader said. “You will have to ask one of the three to find out what the conversation was all about,” the leader added.

“We believe that the Prime Minister wanted to know how the state was coping with issues related to demonetization from the chief minister and the governor,” a senior BJP leader who was among those who welcomed Modi at the airport said.
