Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday is expected to chair a meeting of chief ministers and home ministers of four states bordering Pakistan in Jaisalmer. The meeting will also be attended by top BSF officials. Singh is likely to discuss the sealing of Indo-Pakistan border along the states of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting comes a day after four militants were gunned down by security forces who tried to infiltrate the border from PoK in the early hours of Thursday. Having strengthened its defences along the LoC, the army managed to foil three infiltration bids – two in Naugam sector and one in Rampur – on Thursday. Following that, the army said they conducted a combing operation amid apprehension of presence of more terrorists in the area. Aside from that, technical surveillance and use of illuminators was also deployed to prevent militants from escaping.
