Director of Sports and Youth Affairs Department, Haryana, Jagdeep Singh Sheoran on Friday visited the house of Rio Olympics bronze medalist Sakshi Malik, in Rohtak and congratulated her father Sukhbir Malik, mother Sudesh Malik and her coach Mandeep on her achievement.
Sakshi Malik has proved that daughters are no way less than boys and are quite capable of bringing laurels and making the state and the country proud.
She has been able to achieve this feat due to the support of the family and efforts of her coach, he said.
Sheoran said that the state government would honour Sakshi Malik with cash award of Rs 2.5 crore and a government job.
Besides, her coach Mandeep Singh of the Sports Department, who has been coaching her for the last six years, would also be honoured.
She would be provided advanced facilities of international standards to enable her to continue to bring glory to the country.
In view of the Golden Jubilee year of the state, the Haryana Government would announce many sops for the players.
There is a plan to build a multi-purpose global standard indoor sports stadium in every district.
Each indoor stadium would cost Rs 25 crore.
Two such stadiums are being constructed at Panchkula and Gurugram.
In the first phase, these stadiums would be constructed in 10 districts and would have global standard facilities, mainly in wrestling, badminton, boxing, basketball, gymnastics and other indoor sports, Sheoran added.
