Berhampur (Odisha), July 7 The students of the Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) in Odisha’s Ganjam will spend an extra hour in schools from Monday onward as the authorities have decided to begin school from 8 am instead of the usual 9 am. The school will also be open on second Saturday of every month, which is observed as a holiday. The practice will be continued for the next two months. “We will take class for one extra hour every day for the next two months while the second Saturday will be a working day to compensate for the loss of school hours during the pre-summer vacation this year,” said Principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Berhampur, A K Mishra. The schools were scheduled to break for summer holiday from May 3. However, the state government declared an early summer vacation from April 13 due to the heat wave condition. “We had lost around 84 working hours due to the prolonged vacation this year,” Mishra said.
