Hyderabad: The Telangana government is planning to distribute fingerlings on a massive scale to promote fisheries sector in the state.
The state government would distribute 37 crore fingerlings at a cost of Rs 48 crore in all the districts, Fisheries and Animal Husbandry Minister T Srinivas Yadav said here today.
This will benefit 20 lakh fishermen in the state, he said.
The fingerlings would be grown in 4,553 tanks and reservoirs, he said.
He asked the state ministers, MPs, MLAs to participate in the programme in a big way, an official release said.
