Islamic preacher Zakir Naik’s Islamic Research Foundation (IRF) on Friday moved the Delhi High Court challenging the immediate ban put on it by a Centre’s notification under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).
The IRF challenged the notification issued in November declaring it an “unlawful association” and banning it with immediate effect. It said the notification did not give any reasons and the decision was taken without any material to show any illegal activity.
In a petition before Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva the NGO objected to the ban order being promulgated with immediate effect.
