The exterior of the train has an attractive new feel and the vinyl coating on the outside of the train is anti-graffiti in nature. The train will have an optional service for meals.
Humsafar Express seats have been given an all new look and feel. The seats are said to be more comfortable and Railways has provided laptop and mobile charging points next to each column of berths. Additionally, to maintain cleanliness in coaches, each cabin has a dustbin. The mirror between the berths is unbreakable.
Each coach has three odour control systems fitted across the aisle. There is a fire announcement system in each coach and the seat-number stickers are braille-integrated. The berths also have sleek bottle holders.
Humsafar Express also boasts of GPS (Global Positional System)-based passenger information systems at each end of the coach. These systems display real-time information about the train’s exact location, and the distance from the next station.
Each coach of the Humsafar Express boasts of a mini-pantry. Railways has installed a coffee/tea/soup vending machine of the IRCTC, which we feel is a great feature aimed at making your train journey better.
Just below the coffee vending machine is the area where trays are stored to keep the food hot. There is also a refrigerator to preserve food items.
The side berth also has curtains for enhanced passenger privacy. Railways will provide khadi linen to passengers of Humsafar Express. The train is also equipped with LED lights.
Humsafar Express has modern toilets with plush interiors. New soap dispensers have been fitted and the odour control system is connected to the toilet’s flush button. Each time you press the flush button, the odour control system releases a perfume. In line with Indian Railways vision to keep tracks defecation free, the coaches have been fitted with bio-toilets.
The area outside the washroom and adjacent to the pantry has a dustbin and fire extinguisher in one corner and a wash basin with a mirror at the other corner.
Humsafar Express: Each coach has 6 CCTV cameras and a total of 14 smoke and heat detection systems. The CCTVs have been fitted on the aisle roof and in the pantry area so as to make sure that the privacy of passengers is not compromised on.
While 10 smoke detection systems are installed in the coach aisle and pantry areas, 1 heat detector is fitted in each toilet of the coach. Additionally, toliet occupation indicators (WC seen in the image) have been fitted at the end of each coach.
Humsafar Express: The train has an extensive fire and smoke detection system. Apart from the fact that each coach has its own system, the power car of the train has a centralised unit that allows Railways staff to keep a simultaneous tab on all coaches.
The train, which will be introduced on the Gorakhpur-Anand Vihar (Delhi) route first, has been designed for overnight journeys. The interior of the train also has anti-graffiti gel-coated wall and roof panels.
The power car is equipped with a fire supression and public announcement system. The fares of the trains will be higher compared to other AC-3 tier coach trains.
