Ushered in by her running mate Tim Kaine, who tried his best to keep his composure in a room full of their top supporters and campaigners, Hillary thanked all her supporters and her family, especially her four-month-old grandson Aiden.
Underlining that America was the most divissive it has been in years, she said it was “our responsibility as citizens is to keep doing our part to build that better, stronger, fairer America we seek, and I know you will”.
In a message to young Americans she said: “You will have successes and setbacks, too. This loss hurts but please never stop believing that fighting for what’s right is worth it. It is. It is worth it.”
