However, the CBI was not able to make headway into the murder and before long Raja Bhaiyya was absolved from his alleged involvement in the murder of the CO.
CBI in its closure report alleged that eight people, including the Gram Pradhan family of Ballipur village were involved in this crime. The court did not accept the closure report due to the poor execution of the investigation and the subsequent report, making it clear that the CBI had not handled the case in a fair manner.

This is supported by our interviews with pivotal characters who have admitted on camera that CBI by design did not opt to examine the key people who could have been helpful in solving this murder.
Our investigation reveals that Inspector Sarvesh Mishra, who was with CO during the visit to the village played the most questionable role in the entire episode.
