It is pertinent to know the circumstances under which CO Haq was trapped and murdered on March 2, 2014 in Ballipur village of Kunda which is the constituency and fiefdom of Raja Bhaiya. The CO had gone to the village to conduct necessary investigation after the reported murder of one Nanhe Yadav which was the aftermath of a personal rivalry gone sour. However, as soon as he reached, reportedly a mob had gathered, attacking the police personnel with firearms.
While Inspector Sarvesh Mishra, an SI and his gunner ran away from the scene, Haq was shot dead. The local police made it out to be a simple case of murder and only got momentum after Raja Bhaiya was linked to the brutal murder. Parveen Azad, the wife of the deceased, accused the UP Jails Minister and his close associates Gulshan Yadav, Guddu Singh, Rohit Singh and Hari Om Shrivastava of murdering her husband. Raja Bhaiya was forced to resign as a result of the outrage that ensued in the aftermath of the murder of an honest police officer. However, the CBI after the inquest gave Raja Bhaiya and all his associates a clean chit.
