India beat England by an innings and thirty six runs to take a 3-0 lead in the ongoing five-Test series. England, resuming the day at 182/6, could only add 13 runs to the total and lost the remaining four wickets in quick succession. R Ashwin was the hero of the day as he picked all four wickets to fall, and took 12 wickets in the match.

England, after winning the toss and electing to bat first, made a positive start to the match. The debutant Keaton Jennings, who scored hundred on debut, and Moeen Ali and Jos Buttler, both scoring fifties, pushed the visitors first innings total to 400. That, however, was the only period Alastair Cook-led unit had some say in the game as it was India all the way after that. In reply, India rode on three hundreds, including Virat Kohli’s double hundred, to post 631 and take a healthy 231-run lead.
