The second photograph shows Sasikalaa surrounded by party office-bearers. This photograph was also tweeted by the party from its official Twitter handle @AIADMKOfficial, with the caption: “AIADMK party functionaries today urged Thirumathi Sasikala to lead the party on the path shown by Puratchi Thalaivi Amma.” On Saturday too, the party’s Twitter account posted a similar message stating that senior functionaries of the AIADMK urged ‘Thirumathi Sasikala’ to lead the party.
Sasikalaa’s elevation to the post of general secretary has been strongly endorsed by TN chief minister O Panneerselvam, state ministers and party MPs, many of whom met Sasikalaa at Poes Garden, where she resides, last week. On Saturday, the CM said that Sasikalaa should become general secretary and lead the AIADMK. For the first time, he referred to Sasikalaa as Chinnamma (as she is known to party workers).
