Others were not so positive. “It’s almost two weeks now and we still have to wait for over 40 minutes in line to withdraw money. Even after waiting for so long, I can withdraw only Rs 2,000. And I still haven’t been able to withdraw the new notes. All I’ve got at ATMs is Rs-100 notes,” a person waiting in line at an ICICI ATM in Kandivli said.

While banks were shut on Sunday, it was the closed ATMs that irked people. “Many ATMs were closed and I was not able to withdraw money. This will cause a lot of problems to office-goers, as Sunday is the one day they have time. They can’t stand in long queues on weekdays,” said Jyoti Kumar, an IT professional. In Navi Mumbai too, people continued to face problems, with ATMs in commercial areas of Vashi and Kharghar quickly running out of money.
